Birchington Baptist Church

Maybe you are visiting this beautiful part of Kent for a holiday, or you may be blessed to live here - however you have found us, you are very welcome to join us for worship. Or why not drop into our Open Door or Coffee Bean for a cuppa and a chat.

Coming to church, or even visiting a new church, can sometimes be a bit confusing; so please do not hesitate to contact us if there is anything you would like to know.

Who are we?

There has been a Baptist Church in Crescent Road since the 1920’s, so we are very much a part of Birchington village, seeking to serve this community in Jesus name. God has recently gifted us a second building in Station Road, so we share worship between the two sites. (See 'A bit of history' for more of the story)

We are members of the Baptist Union [BUGB], and the regional South Eastern Baptist Association [SEBA]. Locally, we are part of the Birchington group of churches. As part of our Baptist roots, we support the work of Home Mission and BMS World Mission.

Some of us are ‘Birchingtonians’, others hail from all around the UK and the wider world. Some have grown up in Baptist churches; others are from other Christian traditions, and some have found faith in Jesus with no prior experience of church.

We are a Christian Church, which means we seek to live under the Lordship of Jesus, a group of folk trying to be a family before God.  We aim to learn from each other; seek to encourage one another to grow in our faith in Jesus, and be changed by his Spirit at work in us.

We believe we are called to make known the good news about the love of God offered to us in Jesus.

We have an agreement with our website folk that they can put adverts on this site...and to be honest, some can be a bit weird! It doesn't mean the ads are from us.
